Step 02: ALS Reversal Science

47 Steps to Healing™

Focus on small steps—each one moves you forward.
Good: Do what you can today.
Better: Do a bit more over time.
Best: Expand or refine what matters most.

The information we share is for educational purposes and should not be treated as medical advice.

Summary of this Step

  • Healing ALS encourages review of peer-reviewed research referenced on its website, including studies documenting atypical ALS disease courses. The very bottom of this page lists a dozen peer-reviewed articles verifying the science behind ALS reversals.
  • A 2024 observational study of 45 ALS patients participating in Healing ALS programs reported, over 12 months, that ~20% improved on the ALSFRS-R score, ~20% stabilized, and ~20% declined by only 1–4 points (compared to an average annual decline of ~12 points).
  • Healing ALS is currentluy recruiting for a 1,000-person ALS observational study (HAROS) which will benefit those currently with ALS.
  • Study findings have been presented at major neurology and medical conferences, including the American Neurological Association, American Academy of Neurology, ALS/MND World Congress, and the Institute for Functional Medicine.
  • Peer-reviewed research in (2018) documented 34 medically verified ALS reversals
  • As of January 2026 over 60 ALS reversals have been medically documented.
  • These reversals were independently verified; Healing ALS is not affiliated with any of the Universities or Institutions involved in the study.
  • Educational videos, patient presentations, and integrative medicine frameworks are shared to promote hope, awareness, and a broader view of ALS management beyond symptom-focused care.

1. Read through the references of the Peer Reviewed articles at the bottom of this page

  • See references at bottom of this page.

2. Healing ALS is currently recruiting for a 1000 person ALS observational Study.

3. 2024 Observational study of 45 ALS Patients

2024 Study Results:

Of ALS Patients who regularly participated in Healing ALS Programs, over a 12 month period, on average:

  • 20% reversed ALS symptoms on the ALSFRS-R Score
  • 20% stablilized ALS symptoms on the ALSFRS-R Score.
  • 20% lost only 1-4 points on the ALSFRS-R Score (average loss is 12 points).

4. Healing ALS Presenting at ALS and Neurological Conferences

2024 Healing ALS Observational Study results presented at the ANA American Neurological Association Annual Meeting:

Larisa Syrow, MD, Neurologist and Coco Newton, MPH, RD, CNS presenting Healing ALS Observational Study results at the American Neurological Association Annual Meeting in September 2024

Our medical team has presented findings at the following conferences:

  • Institute for Functional Medicine (Annual World Conference 2025)
  • American Academy of Neurology (Annual Conference 2025)
  • ALS/MND World Congress (Annual Conference 2024)
  • American Neurological Association (Regional conference 2024)
  • American Neurological Association (Annual conference 2024)

5. Peer Reviewed Study and ALS Reversal Documentation

  • Open a few of the peer reviewed research articles in the References section, at the bottom of this Step (Step 2).
  • Read the abstracts from a few of them.
  • Skim or read this article in full: <<<CLICK HERE>>> 2018 published peer-reviewed journal article by a team of University reserachers when they medically documented 34 ALS reversals.
  • As of January 2026, researchers have documented over 60 ALS reversals.
  • Please remember that these researchers did not help any of these people reverse their symptoms. They verified their ALS diagnosis and their reversal of symptoms.
  • The PALS themselves reversed ALS working on their own doing a variety of protocols including doing their own research, following their intuition, and consulting with medical professionals.
  • Healing ALS is not affiliated with any of the universities, institutions nor with any of the authors of this paper. This is independent verification of many of the ALS reversals that Healing ALS has identified.

6. Watch Video for understanding the science of why ALS is reversible

The following interview is with a board certified neurologist and Director of the ALS Clinic at Duke University who has been documenting ALS reversals, Dr. Richard Bedlack, MD, PhD. He has publicly stated recently that his team has verified over 60 ALS Reversals. Healing ALS is not affiliated with Dr. Bedlack. This is independent verification of many of the ALS Reversals that Healing ALS has identified.

7. Go to HealingALS.org Recordings (Events – Past Recordings). (You need to be a member to see this page). Watch the main presentations of the following 3 weeks (you can skip Q&A if you like) of:

We hope after reading and watching the above content that you can recognize amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ALS symptoms, and know that with the right treatments and measures, your life expectancy with an ALS or MND diagnosis can be improved.
A diagnosis of ALS disease and a neurogenerative condition is not a death sentence.

8. Review Difference between Conventional Medicine and Integrative/Functional Medicine

Conventional Medicine

  • Treats symptoms
  • Focuses on diagnosing and treating disease
  • Uses pharmaceutical drugs, surgery and technology

Integrative Medicine

  • Combines conventional treatments with evidence-based holistic, and lifestyle-focused treatments
  • Therapies include: nutrition, acupuncture, safe detoxification, stress management, meditation, frequency therapies
  • Addresses root cause of illness
  • Treats the whole person

9. Review in Quick Start: Why does my neurologist not know about this approach or dismiss it?

Check for Understanding and Completion of Step 2:

I have looked over the results of the 2024 observational study of 45 PALS over 12 months.

I have reviewed the conferences at which Healing ALS medical professionals have presented.

I have reviewed the scientific references at the bottom of this Step (Step 2).

If you have checked all boxes, Congratulations! You have completed Step 2!
